With the coming of man came the illusion of conquering everything, and with this illusion came chaos. A perpetual state of chaos has been prevalant since the dawn of mankind. Since his conception, man has always tried to alter his environment according to his convenience which has always resulted in problems. Man has irretrievably damaged our environment, all under the pretext of development. Anatomically modern humans evolved from Homo sapiens the Middle Palaeolithic, about 200,000 years ago. The emergence of anatomically modern human marks the dawn of the subspecies Homo sapiens sapiens, i.e. the subspecies of Homo sapiens that includes all modern humans. Probably that was when the first trigger to a chain of self-initiating destructive events began, the choice was made. I believe in the fancy idea that there must be parallel earths somewhere in the dark and unexplored enormity of our universe,( I’d also rather call it a multiverse given its colossal nature!!). And each earth is the outcome of the choices that were made by our ancestors. As time progressed man due to its ever-evolving nature took huge leaps on the path of development, now development here is a very relative term. During the past few centuries man has not leaped but has sprinted on this path and his pace keeps continually increasing. I wonder how would our earth look like 20 years from now,i may be driving myself to work in a car that’s fuelled by energy sources other than oil, the latest measurements confirm that the world's oil and natural gas supplies are running out too fast. At some time between 2010 and 2020 the world's supply of oil and gas will fall below the level required to meet international demand. I wonder how beautiful the world would look when i’d look out from the porch of my fully computerised home. I’d breathe air purified by the lush greens surrounding the homes we shall dwell in. It all seems so fancy and bit far-fetched. We may also live to breathe air contaminated of the poison that factories of production of technology may spill. Yes,thats a possibility. I study in one the top most engineering institutes in the country, being regularly guided by the brightest men in this field. Often i think whether all the inventions if any, i may come up shall ever help our environment. We live in a age where technological evolution is all that matters, despite the product’s inability to keep a harmony with nature. Millions of other minds who shall be engineers some day, need to know their responsibility towards the environment. It is in our hands to control the outcome of the technology in whose development i was a significant part. This may look like just another write-up coming from one amongst the hundreds of other propagandists who oppose the development for a better tomorrow.I am all for development, all i think of a perfect harmony attained between the nature and technology. I dream of living to see ourselves and our generations to come live in a better tomorrow. A tomorrow which hasn’t compromised on the environment for the sake of technological development. I dream........

very nice ...will wait for ur second article
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot deepak, your comment is highly appreciated.
ReplyDeletenice... :)
ReplyDeletegrt job done dude....keep it goin:)
ReplyDeleteur first attempt at writing is a hit, dude
ReplyDeletenice post...but i would like to contadict a little..firstly its not in our hands to control the growth of technology, not nemore..well u must be thinking that i am pessimist but this is what the truth is..man has unknowingly become the slave of science..we cannot live without it..rather then thinking of how to control technology we should think on how save nature technologically...i hope the engineers of today get this point which basically includes us also:))
ReplyDeletewell nice post...keep going...will look forward for your next forward:)
Thanks for reading niyeti, but the point im trying to make here is the technocrats can control the outcome of technology despite surrendering to the slavery of science. I think of a future where the technology we use is developed keeping in mind our environment. Cheers to a greener, better and peaceful tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rohit,Saurabh and Sashwat for being patient enough to go through my lil writing experiment.
ReplyDeletereally nice job:)
ReplyDeletebut i would like to say one thing that its technology only which is enabling u to put ur point of view in front of millions of ppl...
so i wud say that technological development is a necessity...although we can have measures which could help saving the environment but not by stopping the development!!!
thanks vatsala,im consistently making this point that i'm in absolute favour of technological development, all i ask of is a controlled outcome that keeps sustainable development in tow.
ReplyDeleteohk..now gt ur point absolutely clear :)
ReplyDeletesorry dats will look forward for your next POST..:))
ReplyDeletelets work and hope for a better and greener tommorow..
keep up th good work...
